About 'Loser issue' (영어 스터디 숙제)

  There was the movie 'Gattaca'. The background of this movie is the time of the most advanced scientific technology that all people knew their genetic information when they were born. The main character is a man with an inferior gene. The man hopes to become a spaceman, but he couldn't because of his inferior gene.

  

  We pity his frustration because of that he neglected of superior gene at birth. people dream of freedom. The freedom is given when we have equality of opportunity. Because of that, We believe liberal democracy.

  Do kyung Lee's comment isn't appropriate for current culture. It implies inequality. It embeds that a short man refers to a loser. It seems to deprive winner as if the main character of 'Gattaca' couldn't be a spaceman.

  

  People appear to be sensitive against inequality statements, nowadays. But, is it the equal society that explain the 'loser issue'? No, it doesn't. We should have to rethink whether we live there or not.

  우리는 자유민주주의 시대에 살고 있으면서 동시에 자본주의 시대에 살고 있다. 자본주의 체제는 사적 재산과 자유 시장 체제를 허용한다. 때문에 사람들은 자신의 돈으로 많은 것을 살 수도 있고 팔 수도 있다. 때때로 사람들은 기회를 돈으로 사기도 한다. 비록 자본이 투표권 같은 민주주의의 기본 권리는 사지 못하더라도, 투표를 행사하는 사람들 위에 영향력을 행사할 수 있는 언론기관과 같은 사유재산물을 사들일 수 있는 것이다. 투표권이라는 기회는 동등하게 주어지나 누군가를 당선시킬 수 있는 기회는 이미 자본의 힘에 좌지우지 된다. 자본은 민주주의 본연의 권리는 해치지 않으면서도 기회의 불평등성을 조장할 수 있는 힘을 갖고 있다. 그리고 그 불평등성은 이미 우리 주위에 만연히 퍼져있다.

  We are living in irony era that coexist equality and inequality. We should think speaking of 'Loser' again. Is it too much too insult the rights of man? It maybe express an anger in this era having inequality.
